Fujimi 1/32

This is not a true scale slot car by any means, but I thought I would enter it anyway. This funny little car is based on a Fujimi 1/32 scale deformed F1 motorized kit, typical of the Tamiya mini 4-wheel drive cars. I don't remember if I initially bought this kit to build into a slot car, but I thought it would be interesting to see if I could it.

The basic frame is a piece of .078" wire bend into a "u" shape with a brass nosepiece & a Slick 7 guide tongue. I used an American Line motor bracket on the back half. The pans were made from 1/16" thick brass & are captivated at the ends with 3/32" square tubing. A crossbar keeps the pans from flopping up & down. Next, I soldered the front axle tube to the wire uprights, then installed the pin tubes & I was done with the frame. I had to sand off the front wing; otherwise, mounting the body was a snap. I apply a couple of decals & left the body unpainted, since it was already pre-colored. The motor is a stock chinese 16D, geared at 7/31 & the tires are from Pro/Track. The guide had to be modified to fit underneath the body. It looks good & actually works well on the track with a little glue. My next project is to build an even smaller slot car from a deformed GTP kit.
