ASSEMBLY METHOD!
I started by rubbing down the resin body shell with 1500 grade wet & dry, then I filed down all the rough edges with a small swiss file, before drilling the 3 body pillars with a 2.2mm drill bit fitted to a Dremmel multi-tool,for attaching the shell to the chassis.I then prepared the body shell by spraying it with white plastic primer. When the primer had dried,I firstly sprayed the body with the orange paint & allowed it to dry for 24 hours.
I then masked off all the areas which I wanted to keep as orange, and then sprayed the remaining areas with the royal blue paint, allowed it to dry & then removed all of the masking tape,to reveal the two different colours.I then rubbed down the seams where the two colours met, with 1500 grade wet & dry.Next I proceede to apply the decals to the specific areas on the body shell. The white dividing lines which separate the orange & blue colours were cut into 3mm wide strips & carefully applied using microsol & microset, all of the other decals were applied in the same way,and allowed to dry for 24 hours.
The next step was to laquer
the body shell, firstly it was given a light feathered coat & after 10 minutes, while
still tacky, another final heavier coat was applied to seal the decals &
give the car that glass look factory finish.
After a further 24 hours, the interior was sprayed with matt black paint &
the driver was also hand painted. One hour later, the interior was fixed into
place using araldite rapid glue. The headlights were then placed into position
& fixed securely by melting the inside of them with a soldering iron to
hold in place. The small roof ariel was glued into place on the pre drilled hole
in the roof.
The next step was to remove the axles & tyres, then spray the wheels with white plastic primer, allowed to dry & then sprayed orange in keeping with the car`s colour scheme. When the wheels were dry,the tyres were put back on & the axles reassembled to the chassis. The "Michelin" tyre walling decals were then applied using microsol.
The final step was to fix the finished body shell to the rolling chassis,by using three 2.2mm Ninco body screws & a small phillips screwdriver.
