Track Design Competition: Chris Carlton

This is a new track - built last weekend so as of yet is unnamed.

Its made from the standard scalextric track and is screwed to the block-board sheet which enables it to be lifted up out of the way as per the photo. the only downside is that the screw heads are hard to get below the surface without causing a pot-hole effect in the track - but it makes for interesting driving with small cars such as the Scalextric Caterhams. The Fly trucks are also fun on the tight hairpins - go too fast and they have been known to barrel roll over the fencing!!!

Running length on both lanes is just over 30' with a lap time of around 5.6 seconds to 6.5 seconds, depending on car make & type etc.

After watching John Sword on the recent television series on Home & Leisure I intend to make a central pit area and grassy hills around the edges to add some realism, will also be adding various figures to represent spectators & pit crew etc.
