Track Design Competition: Fred Preston

I started racing Slot-cars back in the early 1960 with my son’s, (they sold this race set many years ago) After retiring I felt I needed a hobby to keep me occupied, I purchase a Ninco race set going in a sale, which would make a figure eight, that was in August 2000 since then it’s taken two years to build the track as you see it now.

The track is screwed to a board 11`-6” x 3`-9”, this is fixed by hinge’s to the wall and folds up flat to the wall in a about a minute, (so the beds can be used by my grandchildren). This track is 49`-3” in length, there is a second section of track built the same way as this on the opposite side of the room, by removing two section of track they can be joined together making the track 63’ft in length.

The track and kerbs, plus the timer are Ninco, I have no buildings at present, I have created a pit lane scene on the back wall of the track. I have a mix of cars Ninco, Scx, Slot-it, Scalextric, Proslot & Fly , I like the Fly cars for the detail.

The two large photos show the track from either end, the other photo shows the other section of track with the cars crossing over the bridge round the air pin and back on to the main circuit.
