Track Design Competition: Gert Jorgensen

As you can se from the pictures, this is mainly old Scalextric and Airfix stuff. I like this period of racing very much and I have therefore tried to recreate a track from that period. It is not that long, but there are a lot of details put into it. Al buildings of never type have been abandoned, as well as cars younger that app. 1970. They are on the shelf.

I like building scenery very much, and especially the pit area and the vintage paddock has worked out nice I think. To a 60s track you also need a saloon paddock and a saloon club race. Here I find the old Airfix cars very nice. They are very accurate in scale and fits very well to the buildings.

There are still some tickets left for the grandstands, but in all there are some 500 persons going around n the track already, and it does not even look crowded yet. I can use many more people, but of cause I can’t use modern mechanics with helmets on, they need to do their work in overalls.

Modern classics from NINCO, Scalextric, Carrera, Pink Car etc. are allowed space in the paddock. I am not a collector fanatic; they just need to look right for the period. As an example I would be very reluctant to by a blue C62 Ferrari F1, have you ever seen such a car in real life? The paling sections from Scalextric is some of the best bits together with the refreshment Kiosk, the entrance building and the grandstands, I love them.
