Track Design Competition: Rodney Smith

'FOREST DRIVE' a 4 lane home racing circuit built in my garage. after all a garage is for cars, 'SLOT' cars. Classic Scalextric track & accessories used throughout. The areas between the track have been filled with offcuts of MDF (fibre board). which have been cut to shape using the track as a template. its rather like putting a jigsaw together, the grassed areas are simply sawdust spinkled on to wood glue then sprayed with various shades of green paint. Extra barriers are strips of thick card, cut to length and glued to wooden dowel post pre fixed into the MDF. The barriers were then painted with white emulsion. Adverts cut from various magazines have been added, some of which have been enlarged or reduced in size, using a computer. Trees came from the branches of an old artificial xmas tree, trimmed to shape and fixed in pre drilled holes, then given a coat of 'racing green' car spray paint. The line of trees on the back straight adjacent to the wall, were cut from a cardboard box and spray painted.(eldest sons work). The photos depict a classic race day from the 60's my period.
