Whats On? | Brooklands Feature Race

The Brooklands feature race will take place in the chequered flag room, where some of the UKs top slot car builders and racers will gather for a prestigious race meeting for 1920s & 1930s replica Brooklands race cars, each built to exacting standards and raced on a circuit specially built for the day.

Brooklands Feature Race Rules
For models raced at Brooklands in the period 1920 to 1939.

Race Format
The event is strictly limited to 48 entries which will be divided into 4 race sessions with 12 drivers in each session, This will ensure that all competitors can also spend time to enjoy the Brooklands Museum and the other events on the day. All cars will be entered into a Concours event before the meeting starts with the models going forward to score points towards the Overall combined trophy.
The event is kindly Sponsored by Pioneer Slot Cars.
Trophies will be awarded in 3 categories for furthest race distance covered, concours & the main prize awarded for the Overall Combined trophy.

General Rules
This event has only ONE mandatory stipulations;
1. 'All driven wheels' tyres to be ORTMANN

All models to be good 1/32 scale representations of real prototypes raced at Brooklands 1920-1939.
All models Wheelbase to be to 1/32 SCALE (tolerance +/- 2 mm )
All models should be finished in correct, period Brooklands liveries, and have at least 2 racing numbers displayed.
All models should have a period style steering wheel and 3 dimensional driver figure (min; upper torso, arms, period head/helmet)
All models of prototypes that had a clear windscreen, must have windscreens fitted.
No chassis, motor, lead wires etc, should be visible from above or through the cockpit.
The guide must not be visible from above (in straight ahead position) and must not protrude beyond front most point of the model. (Front Dumb irons may be covered to hide guide)
The Organisers reserve the right to exclude any model they deem 'not in the spirit of the event'.

Bodies
All bodies to be 'hard', made from; F/Glass, plastic, Resin, wood, metal (thin alloy sheet only).
No Vacuum formed bodies allowed.

Chassis
Can be made from; Metal, plastic, F/glass, Wood, Resin.
Must be Inline configuration only.
Minimum ground clearance; 3mm.
Maximum overall Width; (the max width is measured from the outer edge of the R/H wheel to outer edge of L/H wheel)
Over 2 litre models; 54mm
Under 2 litre / over 1100cc models; 51mm.
No model will be allowed to run if wider than these limits.
No Traction magnets to be used.

Motors
Free Choice

Wheels and Tyres
Wheel & tyre Minimum diameter;
Over 2 litre; Rear 25mm.... front 24mm.
Under 2 Litre; rear 23mm....front 22mm.
Maximum overall width; Rear tyre 6mm (contact width 5mm).
'All driven wheels' - tyres must be from the Ortmann range.
Front tyres; any rubber/ortmann type, but no silicons or spongies.
All wheels should be in keeping with the real cars and have appropriate wheel inserts fitted.

Appendix 1 – New Category for 2010
1100cc and under models.(Brooklands Classes G and H).
Maximum overall width;.................45 mm.
Maximum rear tyre width;................5 mm (O/A).
Minimum rear wheel/tyre diameter;..21 mm
Minimum front wheel/tyre diameter...20mm
Minmum ground clearance;........... 2.5 mm.
These small models will run in the under 2 litre class, and the highest placed model in the combined trophy will receive an award.

The racing will take place in the Bluebird room.

The Track

The track is being provided by www.pinewoodraceway.co.uk and is a 6 lane routed / copper braid track.
Track power on the day will be 13.8volts.
