The introduction of 3D printing has dramatically opened up new options for slot car manufacturers. With the recent surge of the 3D chassis releases at Pendle Slot Racing, we thought it would be a good idea to try one.
The current 3D chassis we stock are made by Slot.it and Sloting Plus, all designed for models made by other manufactures and to enable their parts to be installed.
We have used the Sloting Plus 3D Chassis (Ref: SP601002) designed to fit the Scalextric VW Polo body.
This particular 3D chassis comes with an additional interior support base, lexan cockpit and 4 special body screws.
We have setup the VW Polo with non magnet racing in mind. The original Scalextric chassis on the VW Polo performs fantastic with a magnet, but take the magnet out and it just doesn't handle how we would like it to. Also with the standard scalextric chassis, you are very limited to upgrade to better performance parts from other manufacturers.
The Sloting Plus 3D chassis has been designed to use the Slot.it Motor mounts.
By replacing the original standard Scalextric chassis with the Sloting Plus 3D chassis, it allows us to easily install and upgrade better quality racing parts, from manufactures such as Sloting Plus and Slot.it. The possibilities are endless.
We added the Slot.it Flat-6 motor 20,500rpm in anglewinder configuration. The Slot.it inline or sidewinder motor mounts can also be used.
The front axle ride height can be adjusted by using grub screws. We also added the Slot.it independent front axle kit.
Different motors, wheels and gear ratios can be easily changed. We added the Slot.it rear axle kit (SIKK09C) which includes 1x axle 54 mm long, 2x aluminium wheels 17.3x9.75x1.5mm (short hub PA62-Als) 1x anglewinder Z32 ergal light crown, 1x Z12 Ø6.5mm pinion, 2x bronze standard bushings, 2x 'BBS' GT inserts, 2x spacers 1mm, 1x aluminium stopper and 4x grub screws L3.
