Penelope Pitlane Brabham Herald Coupe 1959-1964. The Triumph Herald Coupe was designed by Michelotti in a matter of hours and the prototype was delivered to Coventry on Christmas Eve 1957. Saloon, convertible, estate and the Courier vans all followed this original design. With the Mini Cooper ‘S’ and Lotus Cortina now on the market Triumph wanted a piece of the action. For an extra £345.00 you could order a Jack Brabham Herald Climax. With the 1220cc FW Climax engine with twin S.U.’s. This was the engine Colin Chapman had, had produced for his Lotus Elite. With this 83bhp Climax engine 0-60 mph 10.8 secs, top speed 102.2mph. Originally produced by Traffic Models, the rights were purchased and it has been substantially lightened and modified to fit PP Clubmans chassis. The blue car in the picture is of one of the few cars that remain today or with the addition of spot lights the successful rally cars 1959-61 can be made from this kit.
