The Ford GT40's biggest competitor – The Ferrari 365 P2
The Ferrari 365 P2 was the Italian answer to the Ford GT40, which won several endurance races. The 365 P2 was mainly developed for private teams. The vehicle was also used by Maranello Concessionaires Ltd. from Great Britain. Even after achieving the fastest qualifying time, the Ferrari 365 had to give way to the Ford GT40 due to a defective rear axle during its debut in Daytona. At the following endurance races in Europe, however, the 365 P2 was able to assert itself: in Monza, Reims or at the Nürburgring.
