History

Bill Devin teamed up with Irish chassis Engineer Malcolm McGregor to produce high performance sports cars. The mould for fibreglass body was taken from a Ferrari two seater sports car based on the Ermini 1100cc chassis, this in turn was from an original Scaglietti design for a single seater. The McGregor chassis was fitted with the 339CI Chevrolet (375 HP) engine.

The car had an amazing performance for its time 0-60mph in 4.8 secs 0-100 mph in 12. Fifteen Devin SS's were built and supplied in ready to race form.

Devin raced successfully in SCCA C / modified class against Maserati and Ferraris, Andy Porterfield was the most successful driver in history and was the original Devin works driver. Peter Woods won the 1959 Cal Club C / modified championship.

The Colour Scheme

The car appeared in numerous colour schemes.

1) Navy with broad silver stripe front to rear, white roundels with number 38.

2) Overall silver with red cross taped headlamps, number 66. Letters CM to the rear of front wheel arches.

3) Cunningham livery. Overall white two navy stripes front and rear number 77 on blue roundels.

4) Scarab livery. Metallic blue overall with the familiar nose and side stripes in white.

5) Overall Ferrari red with white roundels number 71.

6) Overall navy with two broad white stripes front and rear and radiator surround.

The body is also designed to accept the Penelope Pitlane Inline Competition Chassis 67-75mm (Ref: PP-ICOMP)
