On four A442s engaged at the LeMans 24 hours 1977, car number 16, under Bendix colors is the first car ever entered by Hugues de Chaunac in Le Mans. It is the car which indeed served during all the interseason to make the tests. It is also the first car to abandon this edition. Didier Pironi was at the wheel on the starting grid. But in the first lap the engine is on fire and Pironi stops and retires at Mulsanne.
